Reigny Abbey (Yonne) to take part in the
40th edition of the Journées Européennes du Patrimoine 2023
with the theme of Sport and Heritage, which, along with living heritage, is one of the two themes chosen by the French Ministry of Culture. As rolling heritage is also a living heritage, it will also contribute to the enhancement of built heritage.

As part of the partnership set up between the Demeure Historique (DH), of which Reigny Abbey is a member, and the Under the auspices of the Fédération Française des Véhicules d’Epoque (FFVE), a dozen classic car collectors from the Yonne region will be exhibiting some of their finest pieces in the abbey grounds, including a Citroën SM, a 15CV6 Traction, a Hispano-Suiza Coupe Chauffeur, a Daimler Limousine Royale, an Aston Martin…

Lecture on “L’exposition universelle de 1867 à Paris : analyse d’un phénomène français au XIXe siècle” by Edouard Vasseur, professor at the École des Chartes and treasurer of the Association des Amis de l’Abbaye de Reigny.
The event, held on the Champs de Mars in Paris, brought together some 30 countries, 52,000 exhibitors and attracted several thousand people every day. The imperial festivities were in full swing in a Paris undergoing a complete transformation under the leadership of Baron Haussmann, with visits from foreign sovereigns, receptions and shows. And yet, on July 1, the day of the inauguration by Emperor Napoleon III, the capital was buzzing with rumors of an unfortunate event that would temporarily interrupt the festivities…
